The mission of the Children's and Family ministry at Acworth United Methodist Church is to reach every child with the love of Jesus Christ. Our goal is to provide activities and programs that will enrich the lives of the families that COME to Acworth United Methodist Church. Our hope and prayer is that each child and family member will CONNECT in this community, GROW in the peace and love of Jesus Christ, then GO into the community and beyond as His disciples to share the Good News. Make your faith contagious!

Summer Camp Information and Registration Here

COME, CONNECT, GROW & GO!
There's a place for everyone here! Beginning at 8:30am on Sunday mornings, children can stay in S103 or worship with their parents in the chapel. Sunday School for all ages begins at 9:30am. Children ages 4 (as of 9-1-2013) through 5th grade may go with parents to 11am worship then dismiss after Children's Moment to Junior Church (4s-K in S110 and 1st-5th in Chapel). Wednesday night activities for children are 6pm-7:30pm.

IBM (In-Between Ministry)
for kids 3rd - 6th grade. This is a time of fellowship, devotion, learning and FUN activities for kids who are old enough to study and understand more in depth lessons and conversations. We have great field trips (corn maze, Bethlehem Walk, assisted living visits) and lock-ins plus go to S.C.R.E.A.M. retreat in March! Join us!

COMMUNITY OUTREACH
The Children's and Family Ministry at Acworth UMC finds many opportunities to serve the community such as providing a live Nativity, free popcorn and gifts to the community during the City of Acworth's annual 1st Friday/"Santa is Coming to Town" event. We also help with MUST summer lunch program and will be actively involved with Family Promise when it starts in January. IBM kids clear litter from the lake path and visit residents in a local assisting living community. This gives our kids an opportunity to be exposed to mini-missions projects that help our community.

ANGEL WINGS MINISTRY
For our children with special needs, we offer our "Angel's Wings" classes at both 9:30 and 11:00am each Sunday. Pre-registration is required to ensure proper leader to student ratio and to provide and prepare for each child. These classes are best suited for children functioning in the mild/moderate range intellectually. We are blessed with this opportunity to present God's love to all the children attending Acworth UMC. As this ministry has grown, we have truly felt God's presence. We have learned that while meeting the needs of these and all children, we must strive to focus on their gifts. God has granted all of HIS children gifts--we must make it a point to search for each gift and put it to work for God's glory. Contact Darlene more information.

Each summer, we offer two 3-day special needs summer camps simultaneous with our regular summer camps. This ministry began in 2004 and has continued to serve many children with special needs in our 3-day camps offered two times each summer. Registration will open mid-April.

SUMMER CAMPS
Two 3-day summer camps are offered for 2yr-finished 5th grade children. Registration opens mid-April! Watch website and bulletin for more info.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

G3 - Growing Gods Girls is a mentoring group for all 4th through 6th grade girls that meets on the 1st Sunday of each month from 12-2:15pm.  We enjoy lunch (tea parties, picnics, etc), devotion and an activity such as baking, sewing, manicures, etc. while learning that what is on the inside is so much more important that the outside.  We welcome older female youth mentors as well as senior adult ladies!  Cost is $5 each.

B3–Building Brave Boys is a mentoring group for all 4th through 6th grade boys that meets for special outings and activities throughout the school year.  It's a great opportunity to help build a strong foundation of faith in our boys!  Dad’s and other mentors are welcome!  See Ed Lynch, Chris Derrick or Darlene Soyars for more information.

To learn more about these programs and other programs we offer, please contact Darlene.

Medical Release Form for AUMC – required before your child or you can go on any of our church outings.
